About the Workshop
Workshops last 1.5 hours for 5 weeks. Seneca's "De Brevitate Vitae" will meet on the following dates. (Note: time is Eastern Standard.) - Thurs. Jan. 14 @ 8:00 pm - Thurs. Jan. 21 @ 8:00 pm - Thurs. Jan. 28 @ 8:00 pm - Thurs. Feb. 4 @ 8:00 pm - Thurs. Feb. 11 @ 8:00 pm
How it works
When you sign up for the class you'll receive a link to our reader for the text. That will have the text we'll be reading as well as vocabulary and grammar notes. Before each workshop, you'll prepare your own translation of the text. Try to do as much as you can on your own. If you get hung up, don't worry; we can discuss it in class. Then, during our workshop time we will take turns reading the text and our translation. We'll discuss any tricky grammar or vocabulary and I'll guide you through the hard parts. Then we'll do it again in advance of our next meeting! We'll read as much of Seneca's work as we can get through in our 5 week workshop.
Kyle Brown
Hi, I'm your translation guide for this workshop. I've been translating and teaching Latin for over ten years. I've taught middle schoolers, high schoolers, and adults along the way. Join me as we dive into Seneca's brilliant piece about the nature of life and time. "All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us." - Gandalf
